Don Hay's Pro Tips...

#1 485 yards, par 5... Is a straightforward par 5 with a classic risk reward decision on your second shot. Your tee shot will roll farther if you favor the left side, but the hole plays better from the right side. Pond is 373 yards from the tee. Don't let yourself end up past the hole as it is tough coming down the hill.

#2 210 yards, par 3... The green is shaped like a peanut and provides for some tough pin placements. Prevailing wind will knock your shot down, but you don't want to be long as you will either have a tough up and down or be out of bounds. Club selection is critical. Play to the fat of the green.

#3 420 yards, par 4... From the tee aim at the green box and sand trap on the right. Prevailing wind is in your face. Do not leave your second shot to the right of the green as it is nearly impossible to get up and down. Short hitters should lay up well short of the green to avoid the creek 20 yards in front of the green. Good long par 4.

#4 165 yards, par 3... The worst thing you can do here is to hit the ball over the green or above the hole. The green is truly exciting from all angles. From above the hole you are almost always dead. Play your tee shot to the right and keep it short.

#5 310 yards, par 4... People love this hole. I don't! You either make a birdie or a double. To play it conservatively lay up left of the water with a mid to short iron. Play your second shot for the center of the green. Don't aim at the pin. Try to make a 4. If you are hitting it straight and want to gamble take a driver or 3 wood and try to cut the ball around the tree with the American flag on top. Out of bounds on the left and right so not much room for error. If you pull it off you may find yourself putting on this trecherous green for eagle.

#6 171 yards, par 3... A fairly straight forward hole complicated by the gallery in the bar who think they can do it better. Try to stay below the hole. Lateral water hazard to the left and behind with out of bounds beyond. Tough up and down from the right side. Lots of 3 putts here.

#7 374 yards, par 4... Locals call the left side birdie alley. Don't listen to them. Favor the right side with your tee shot, 3 wood or 2 iron. Too far right and you are in the 8th fairway and dead for your second shot. Tends to play downwind. Don't hit it long. The tree on the left by the green ruins alot of good looking second shots. Green is fast, with character.

#8 352 yards, par 4... Probably the easiest hole on the course, but the beautiful setting of the green lures its share of bogeys. Keep your drive straight and you get good roll. Beware the sand on both sides of the green. The green is very subtle compared to the rest of the course.

#9 191 yards, par 3... A great finishing hole, heavily trapped left and right. Do not go right with your tee shot or you are dead. Go for the center of the green and if you miss leave your ball short or left. Wind is always a factor and tends to be in your face. A great finishing green for those times when you might have a wager going.
